Rocketman Sports Top 25 College Basketball Rankings 1-12-09 We’ll take a look at my Top 25 College Basketball teams as of Monday January 12, 2009. We’ll make a comparison of my Top 25 rankings with the other rankings at the bottom of the page. 1. Duke 97.09 2. North Carolina 95.86 3. Pittsburgh 95.7 4. Arizona State 94.25 5. Marquette 93.73 6. Wake Forest 93.48 7. Connecticut 93.04 8. UCLA 92.44 9. West Virginia 91.41 10. Clemson 90.24 11. Memphis 90.23 12. California 90.09 13. BYU 90.08 14. Georgetown 89.98 15. Oklahoma 89.82 16. Texas 89.17 17. Michigan State 88.82 18. Gonzaga 88.61 19. Illinois 88.56 20. Louisville 88.29 21. Syracuse 88.29 22. Mississippi St. 88.04 23. Xavier 87.64 24. Washington 87.63 25. Purdue 87.3 What I first notice is they are no Big Ten or Southeastern Conference teams in my Top 15 in the nation and only one Big Twelve team in the Top 15. These are three conferences that you always expect to compete for a national title. I feel like it’s a down year for all three. Despite two early ACC losses, I still feel like North Carolina is one of the best teams in the nation and have them sitting at #2. Big Ten wound up with two teams in the Top 25 in my rankings while the SEC has only one team in my Top 25 rankings. The AP TOP 25 has four Big Ten teams, one SEC team and three Big Twelve teams ranked in Top 25. We’re in for an interesting run as we get into the heavy conference play schedule. Rocketman was 72-36 67% last year in College Basketball which was good enough for a documented #1 finish in the nation! Rocketman is currently on a 30-19 61% run this season.
