ACC and SEC Tournament Power Rankings My two favorite Conference tournaments, the ACC and the SEC, get underway here on Thursday afternoon. I’m a diehard South Carolina Gamecocks fan but I absolutely love the North Carolina Tar Heels. I’ve been a big Tar Heel fan since the mid 70’s back when Phil Ford ran the show. We’re going to take a look at my current power ratings for both the ACC and the SEC and try to give you a sleeper as well as who I think will win the tournament. Let’s start off in the ACC. Here are those power rankings from the Rocketman. 1. N. Carolina 94.86 2. Duke 90.09 3. Clemson 89.24 4. Wake Forest 88.48 5. Florida St. 87.28 6. Miami Fla. 84.35 7. Virginia Tech 83.43 8. Maryland 82.55 9. Boston Coll. 81.35 10. NC State 80.69 11. Virginia 79.66 12. Georgia Tech 78.22 Now, let’s look at the SEC. Here are those power rankings from the Rocketman. 1. Auburn 90.02 2. Alabama 85.98 3. Tennessee 85.02 4. Vanderbilt 84.22 5. LSU 83.85 6. Florida 82.8 7. S. Carolina 82 8. Mississippi St. 81.04 9. Kentucky 79.45 10. Mississippi 78.24 11. Arkansas 75.61 12. Georgia 70.73 No surprise I have the Top ranked North Carolina Tar Heels leading the way in the ACC, followed by Duke, Clemson and Wake Forest. Georgia Tech and Virginia are the cellar dwellers in the ACC this year. Over in the SEC, a big surprise at #1 with Auburn along with another surprise at #2 with Alabama. Although these two teams are at the top of my rankings, don’t be surprised by an early exit in the tournament.
