NFL’s Most Profitable Teams in 2009 Thus Far Denver Broncos: 5-0 ATS The Denver Broncos are the most surprising team of the 2009 season. No one expected them to be both 5-0 SU and 5-0 ATS heading into Week 6 with Kyle Orton at quarterback and a suspect defense. However, the Broncos have been outstanding on both sides of the ball. Defensively, they are allowing just 8.6 points and 252 yards per game. As for Kyle Orton, he seems to be thriving in Josh McDaniels system and finally has extremely talented wide receivers to throw to that he didn’t have in Chicago. Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal are two big play threats and Orton was able to find them in key situations last week against the New England Patriots Knowshon Moreno is starting to look like a full time running back giving this offense great balance. With the way the defense has stepped up with 8 new starters this team can be a dangerous threat in the AFC. New York Giants: 4-0-1 ATS The Giants have not played a very tough schedule thus far as they have wracked up wins against Washington, Tampa Bay, Kansas City, and Oakland. Their toughest game came on the road against the Dallas Cowboys where the Giants escaped with an outright win as 3 point underdogs. Eli Manning has been spectacular as he has thrown for 1,212 yards, 10 touchdowns, and has a passer rating of 111.7. Not only have the Giants had success throwing the ball but the duo of Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw has provided great balance to this offense as the Giants are averaging over 160 yards per game on the ground. Steve Smith and Mario Manningham have emerged as big play receivers erasing the loss of Plaxico Burress. The defense has also been outstanding giving up just over 210 yards of total offense per game. New York will be tested this week against a very good New Orleans Saints team and we will find out just how good they are. But for now they are cashing tickets for bettors backing their squad. New Orleans Saints: 4-0 ATS New Orleans has weapons all over the field on the offensive side of the ball. Drew Brees is one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL and he has a ton of weapons to throw to. Marques Coltston, Reggie Bush, and Jeremy Shockey can really stretch defenses. Then when you throw in the fact that the Saints have two quality running backs in Pierre Thomas and Mike Bell, this team is virtually unstoppable. They just have too many weapons in order for defense coordinators to key in on. The biggest question mark heading into the season was whether or not the Saints’ defense could stop anybody but they have improved immensely on the defensive side of the ball. They are allowing just 16.5 points and 295.2 yards of total offense per game. If the defense continues to play like they have in the first four games, New Orleans could be a cash cow this season. The Saints are clicking on all cylinders offensively and have the ability to outscore almost anybody in the NFL
