The top 5 injuries in the NFL are Tom Brady (knee), Osi Umenyiora (knee), Shawne Merriman (knee), Vince Young (knee), and Marques Colston (knee).
Tom Brady's knee injury happened in the first quarter of the first game and New England held on to win 17-10 and won in the second game at the Jets 19-10. Matt Cassel will be at the helm all season as Brady is out for the season and thus far Cassel is up for the challenge. Look for the Patriots to stay course and battle for the division crown.
Osi Umenyiora had a freak injury in the preseason as he twisted and planted his knee wrong and that was it. The Giants had Umenyiora go down and Stranhan retired and with that moved Mathias Kiwanuka back to defensive end from linebacker. The Giants have survived through the first two games with a 16-7 home win over Washington and a blow out win at St. Louis 41-13. Look for the Giants to be fine on defense as the Giants offense will keep them off the field as much as possible.
Shawne Merriman had a knee injury and went to many doctors in the preseason, but opted to play through it. However through just a game or two it was a no go as he is having the surgery and out for the year. The Chargers defense will be struggling to fill the void and will look to the offense to bail them out at times.
Vince Young also had a knee injury which could be a blessing as he is struggling early in the season. Young will be out for at least a month which will give him time to learn from the veteran Kerry Collins who has lead the Titans to wins in week one and two. Look for the Titans to play with Collins at the helm and for Young to play later in the season when he has wised up and learned.
Marques Colston also has a knee injury that will keep him out for at least a month after just 3 catches for 26 yards in the opening game against Tampa Bay. With this injury New Orleans will turn to Reggie Bush and Jeremy Shockey more in the passing game. Drew Brees will need to spread the ball around to keep defenses guessing.
