By Frank Jordan, NFL Offseason Top 5 1) Can the Patriots bounce back off their Super Bowl loss and losing the shot at a perfect season? The biggest issues the Patriots need to address are their defense, offensive line, and finally putting Spy Gate behind them. The defense has been mostly the same during this Super Bowl run however in this most recent trip their defense looked sluggish and old mainly in the line backing core along with the defensive backfield with the loss of Asante Samuel to Philadelphia on the free agent market. The offensive line gave up a ton of hits on quarterback Tom Brady and 5 Sacks after being sacked just 21 times in the 16 games during the regular season. With all the tapes destroyed and the government done with their investigation it looks as though all the talk about Spy Gate can be put to rest and the Patriots can get back to focusing on football.

2) Can the Giants repeat? The Giants played so well on the road in the regular season and into the playoffs winning all four playoff games on the road. The Giants also got big performances from their defense which lost their veteran leader in Michael Strahan who retired. As the defending Champions the entire league will be gunning for you as their will be a bulls eye on their backs. Their schedule is not overly hard playing just 6 games against teams from the playoffs from last year and four of those are against division foes; however they have the early bye in week 4.

3) Life without Brett Favre in Green Bay will be an odd thing. Brett Favre had started every game since 1993-2007. Green Bay and Packers fans will turn to Aaron Rogers to be lead them back to the playoffs and continue the winning tradition. They are big shoes to fill and if Green Bay doesn’t find a running game it could be a long year for the cheese heads. The good thing is that the defense is a solid group of young talented players with a few veterans sprinkled in which will keep the pressure off the offense to do it all.

4) Packman Jones was traded from Tennessee to Dallas, reinstated into the league and went back to his given name of Adam Jones. With the trade it will help as a change of seenary will help him stay out of trouble to show that the reinstatement was not a mistake. The change of name was to shed his old lifestyle when he was called Pacman and be just another player named Adam Jones.

5) All the off the field problems of players getting mugged, players getting burglarized players arrested for DUIs among others as the negative headlines can’t seem to stop dating back to Sean Taylor’s untimely death last year. Roger Goodell has been cracking down on the bad behavior with stiffer penalties and suspensions but it seems that it will take more than just one season to fully clean up the league. In the next few months once the season starts all people will focus on is football.
