EDGE – September 1, 2009 Week 1 CFB Maryland at California 10:00 EST Kick-off I am completing another strong NFL pre-season posting a 9-2 ATS mark entering week 4. I also finished off the College season w/ my career best 15-1 ATS mark in 7* and higher bowl game releases. Culminating with a 15* winner on Florida in the Championship and a 15* winner on Vanderbilt a few weeks prior. Now, week 1 of the CFB season is upon us and I sincerely know that it will be another big winning season. Yes, there will be losing weeks, but I know from 16 years of providing sports handicapping service, that 2009 will be another strong year. In this case game California is lined as a 21.5 point favorite. My proprietary Ai Simulator shows a 73% probability that Cal will win this game by 24 o more points and grades as a 3* opportunity. One of the biggest factors during the first four weeks of the CFB season is playing on teams with far more returning starters than their opponents. Such is the case in this game where Cal returns 7 on offense including their QB and 8 defensive starters while Maryland is rebuilding having just 5 returning offensive and 4 defensive starters. This is especially evident on any offense that returns their entire starting OL – even more important than a returning QB. With a very experienced offensive line returning, Heismann trophy candidate Jahvid Best, will have an even better year than most “talking heads” are projecting fro him to attain. The strongest part is that an OL will performing even better and more consistent when they know they have one of the best TB in the country to lead.
