Miami is just 18 games into their season and already there are rumblings about whether or not head coach Erik Spoelstra is the right fit for the high profile team. Miami is just two game over .500 at 10-8, playing well at home with a 8-3 record, but just 2-5 on the road. They are playing well against the East so if they make the playoffs they could get to the finals with an 8-4 conference record, but once they got there they could have a problem with a 2-4 record against the West. Naturally with such a roster turnover like Miami had there should have been a bit of an adjustment period to get used to everyone’s style, but they have losses against teams like Memphis and Indiana who they should be winning by double digits against. Also against their top two competitors (Boston and Orlando) they are 1-3 against. The way to turn this around is not to fire the coach for Pat Riley or some other stud coach, but to allow them to play out of it themselves. Once they have 30 or 40 games under their belt they should have a better idea to dominate and get the ball rolling. With half the season of playing near one another they will realize how to do it with LeBron or Dwyane driving to the lane and kicking out to the other or a shooting guard for an open jumper or pass off to Bosh for an easy lay in. This speculation and shock is the fact that the public have expected so much from this team with comparisons to go after the 72 wins record of the Bulls from the mid 1990’s was too much. Not only did Miami squad feel the Heat, but the teams around the league also heard all this media hype and each time Miami came to play them or came into Miami the Heat were getting the teams best. Even with this semi shaky start they aren’t that far buried that they can’t come back and win the division or take the top spot in the East. As of November 30th 2010 Miami was just 3 games back of Orlando for first place and Boston for best record in the East. So with More than 60 games left in the season it is way too early to start going crazy and thinking the world is coming to an end. Look for Miami to really start heating up after the first of the year and to just keep pace in December.
